Esta obra es un compendio de los conocimientos teóricos y prácticos de las estructuras, funciones y medidas de actuación sobre las afecciones del aparato locomotor.
El libro se estructura según las distintas regiones corporales: columna vertebral, extremidad inferior y extremidad superior. Cada capítulo comienza con una introducción anatómica con referencias clínicas. Luego sigue la valoración, la interpretación de los síntomas, los criterios de tratamiento y, a continuación, las propuestas terapéuticas que se orientan según los síntomas –dolor, limitación del movimiento, falta de fuerza, de resistencia o de coordinación–. En los capítulos dedicados a la columna vertebral, se presentan los cuadros clínicos más frecuentes de la columna lumbar, dorsal y cervical, con exploración y ejemplos de tratamientos. Se describen las enfermedades sistémicas de la columna vertebral: escoliosis, osteoporosis y enfermedad de Bechterew.
